Inclusive Ethiopia strategy 2026-2030
Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Families and OPDs
This pillar strengthens resilience, self-reliance, participation, and social inclusion for persons with disabilities, their families, and OPDs.
Why empowerment matters
Poverty, unemployment, social exclusion, limited access to education and financial services, and weak institutional capacity can undermine independence and well-being. Women and girls with disabilities often experience multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination.
Our strategic approach
Inclusive Ethiopia will strengthen individual and organisational capacity while supporting disability-inclusive livelihoods, skills, financial inclusion, leadership, and gender equality.
Priority actions
- Support inclusive livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills development.
- Promote financial inclusion and access to opportunity.
- Strengthen the organisational capacity and leadership of OPDs.
- Support families and caregivers as partners in inclusion.
- Prioritise the equal social, economic, and public participation of women and girls with disabilities.
The change we seek
Persons with disabilities, families, and OPDs are more resilient, self-reliant, capable, and able to participate equally in social, economic, and public life.
